Born in Lebanon, raised in Norsborg and based in Stockholm, Simon Haydo produced and released electronic music on record labels such as DEM, Avian, Studio Barnhus, Balans, Stockholm LTD and Innervisions. Earlier this year, he released his debut album 'The Illusion Of An Alternative Choice' on Peder Mannerfelt Produktion, made using only a Korg MS-20 synthesizer.
Simon Haydo recently contributed with a mixtape for our podcast series. Here are his thoughts on the making of the mixtape.
'The mix was recorded in my studio at my new home in Stockholm, using 2 Technics 1210 turntables and an A&H 92 mixer. The idea was to show a more alternative side of me, so I'm trying to find the spirit of The Attic with the mix. There are some beat-less tracks in the beginning, from there I'm moving on to a more African influenced territory, heavy in rhythms, drums and chants. And then finishing with some distorted, euphoric oddball house.'
Simon seems to be pretty active these days and is planning to develop his live performance. 'Besides releasing my debut album, I've been fairly quiet, mostly thanks to a moving frenzy which lasted nearly 5 months and involved a lot of headaches. All good now though. I recently did a remix on Sleep Slip by Soft as Snow, which I’m very happy about, it should be out any minute now on the great Houndstooth label. I'm also in the last stages of finishing a big bunch of new Ms-20 excursions. More info will follow on that. I want to learn how to play live and I want to do it good, Peder has promised to help me out on that :).
