Berlin's Atonal festival, which began in 1982 at Kreuzberg punk club SO36, has been resurrected. The festival returns in august 19 - 23 to takeover the entire Kraftwerk building for its customary program of world premiere performances, special projects, audio-visual shows, installations, after-show parties and more.

Atonal festival hosted among years German industrial groups like Einstürzende Neubauten, Sprung Aus Den Wolken, Malaria, White Russia, Alu, Psychic TV, Test Dept and 808 State, besides many more.

One of the standout events of the year is the European one-off live performance of Outside the Dream Syndicate, the legendary collaboration between avant-garde icon Tony Conrad and German krautrock band Faust. They play at Berlin Atonal their first live show in over 20 years.

Atonal will also provide the setting for Regis and Ancient Methods to present a very rare live performance of their monumental Ugandan Methods collaboration. A musical partnership that brings together Downwards Records label boss Karl O’Connor, and the shadowy industrial world of sonic punisher Ancient Methods.

Additionally, Atonal will host David Borden with his Mother Mallard Ensemble - the world’s first purely synthesised ensemble - to fill the cavernous cathedral with synthesizer soundscapes, as well as academic, sound-explorer and master of deep, abstract techno Mike Parker to perform one of his first live shows in over 15 years and his first ever live performance with visuals.
