We are ecstatic to announce the start of a club residency in Bucharest based Control Club, consisting in a series of music events that will happen on a regular basis in - most likely - the best music spot in Bucharest. Music wise, we want to bring to local attention some acts that gained substance and personality over the years, whether we’re talking about bands, electronic live acts or renowned and magnificent DJs.
Questioning everything and trying to pursuit the essence of what we believe is good and timeless have been our main intentions for almost a year now. We interviewed brilliant people, inspiring musicians and bands, covered a few music festivals, presented some amazing albums and built the foundation of the Auditorium, with over 50 mixes already up, split in 4 different audio podcasts.

The first event from the series presents the solo project of California native Camella Lobo - Tropic of Cancer. Joshua Eustis (Telefon Tel Aviv, Sons of Magdalene) completes the live configuration of Tropic of Cancer alongside Lobo and Dva Damas’s Taylor Burch.
Camella Lobo’s extraordinarily atmospheric and emotive music betrays influences from dream-pop, minimal synth and psychedelia. Tropic of Cancer has released on influential labels such as Downwards and Mannequin, before the arrival of the debut album, Restless Idylls (2013), mixed by Karl O’Connor (Regis), and released on Blackest Ever Black to considerable acclaim. Camella’s dark electronic project debuted in 2009 with the 10-inch single “The Dull Age” b/w “Victims” on the Downwards label.

'There is something really sad to me about love. I’m not so much obsessed with the idea or science of love as much as I’m obsessed and intrigued by our human willingness to throw ourselves completely into love - in all of its impermanence - at all costs and against all odds. Like bugs that fly into a bonfire over and over and over. It’s such a chance you take, but really a chance without a real choice. It’s interesting to me to witness those stories repeat themselves over and over through music, and literature, art. In my life. In my friends’ lives. The core of the story is always the same, but we never get tired of it. My music centres on those themes. As much as I try to make music about other subjects, I honestly don’t feel anything unless I am writing about loving and losing and living and dying.
