With over a decade as one of the leading double bass players in a wide field of contemporary music, Hamburg based John Eckhardt works towards a broader vision of what bass always was and is yet to become. Forresta presents music for bass guitar and live-electronics.

Structured yet always changing, this music explores a secret terrain between krautrock, power ambient and dub techno. A new sound for the bass guitar committed to pulsating low end as well as to spectral soundscaping that bends space and time like a bass string.

As with his first Xylobiont (produced by Evan Parker) and also his seminal mixed media release Forests (a set of extensive bass string-quartets released on a wooden flash drive embedded in actual forest material), John Eckhardt's third solo release Bass, Space & Time is about just that – low frequency and spectral immersion, the navigation of ever new environments, and evolutional process.

All music was recorded as played between 2012 and 2016 by John Eckhardt with close to no edits. Special care has been taken during mixing and mastering (by Hamburg based Gavin Weiss) to preserve massive low end as well as an unusual broadness of the musical space.
