Mikael Seifu’s Zelalem is an ode to – and a fearless break from – the storied lineage of Ethiopian music. As this year rushes toward the precipice of the next, the eternal ethos inspiring Seifu’s music is reanimated in the video for "ዘላለም (Vector of Light),” (amharic for "Zelalem (Vector of Light)”) directed and produced by Stella Scott and Jessie Ayles.
The visuals invite viewers through a journey across conscious realms – from birth into the earth we walk, through the cosmos from which we come from. “Our idea for this video was to explore hidden energies and perspectives of consciousness. We were interested in looking at the world through a macro lens to create a tapestry where there are no borders or opportunities to define what you’re seeing,” says Scott and Ayles.
