Over the past few years, Munich has seen the rise of a vibrant and steadily growing musical scene. But despite the fact that it is the third largest city in Germany, many international acts and musicians do not include Munich to their touring itineraries, because local promoters keep facing too many financial risks, a very similar situation to Bucharest's music scene.

Alien Disko is a special two-day festival happening in December 2016 and taking place at three venues, boasting a line-up that’s comprised of personal favorites: musicians they met on tour, discovered online or fell in love with while digging the crates at Munich’s Optimal Records Store.

One factor was crucial for the selection: the willingness to experiment. Accordingly, the entire festival is about soundscapes beyond genre, about charting new sonic territory. It’s a meeting of artists that break the mold by creating new contexts, new interconnections between musical realms. Alien Disko will be an intentionally polymorphous celebration of music, showcasing talents from all over the world: it’s two nights of music without geographical or cultural frontiers.

Accordingly, the title “Alien Disko” is indeed intended to be a political statement: Considering the recent geopolitical developments, the entire festival serves as a call for more cooperation and collaboration, for a community that hopefully – one day – can overcome nationalism, racism, and discrimination.
