The Spanish musician Victor Ramos, known as Vagon Brei, addictively supplies so many emotions and feelings into both his albums. On the first one, ''Asturias, Tierra De Leyendas, Vagon Brei creates a wonderful music journey through the magic land Asturias, located in the North-West of Spain. No wonder he chose this fairy place to explore musically, because if you take a closer look at its history (if you haven’t done it already I assume), you’ll find out that the Asturias territory first appears in history in the first division of Old Stone Age, which ended between 6000 BCE and 2000 BCE. So this magic place comes with an unbelievable quantity of history, it becomes one of the most impressive heritages that time could give to humanity.
Vagon Brei comes from ‘the land of royal truth’. The legend legend says that Sir Gawain, also known as Gwalchmei, visited several lands over the course of his adventure, including a place called "Gwlad gan brenhinol gwir,”. Translated into Ancient, the name becomes "Verus Gen Bree," or Vagon Brei.
Back to Vagon Brei’s debut on the defunct Strange Life Records (label held by Legowelt), it comprises a story composed from 16 different pieces described as euro-horror. Some of the songs are extremely deep, dark and spacey, some are meditative and sharp, and some just stick into your memory, like chewing gum under the wood tables, in high school.
Produced mostly on analogue gear, this album is an ode to the entire space. Vagon Brei can be found on intimate and good company of Intergalactic FM and the Dutch electronic music heroes that struggle for survival daily, because they can. Though Victor’s roots are Spanish, he designed this unique sound that found its path to the Netherlands in a natural way.
