Welcome in the Attic. This Saturday, June 20, starting 20.00 CET (21.00 Romanian time), stream on channel 5 / The Garden of Intergalactic FM for the 8th episode of The Attic. The theme for this edition is 'Soma'.
In Huxley's 'Brave New World', spending time alone is considered abnormal and even reprehensible, and well-adjusted citizens spend their leisure in communal activities requiring no thought. This leads to a shallow and hedonistic lifestyle, promoted by the ready availability and universally-endorsed consumption of soma (an allusion to a ritualistic drink being prepared by extracting juice from the stalks of a certan plant, consumed by ancient Indo-Aryans).
The Attic #008 is a 73 minutes sonic collage of different recreational and ritualistic music, taken from contemporary releases. You'll be hearing music from the Indonesian band Senyawa (from their new album 'Menjadi' - review HERE), Joan Bibiloni's repress on Music From Memory, new tracks released on Proto Sites (coming from Foundling and S Olbricht), O Phase, Tomaga, Silent Servant, Abdulla Rashim, Vessel, Voices From the Lake, Edanticonf, Ulwhednar and a fragment of a recording from Mitoș Micleușanu and Diana Miron (live performance in Control club - Bucharest - details HERE).
